Work Share Program 2020

Work Share Program – Unemployment Benefit Information                                                         July 9, 2020

Dear Team Members,

We hope everyone was able to enjoy the 4th of July holiday weekend!

As mentioned in our previous notification, nearly all Dowding team members will be participating in a 3 week Work Share Program.  There have been many questions about HOW you will receive unemployment payment. Dowding will handle all unemployment benefits for you so there is no action to be taken by you UNLESS you would like to change your payment method to Direct Deposit instead of receiving a debit card with the funds automatically loaded on to the card.   Currently, all Dowding team members participating in work share will receive a debit card in the mail.  Please see the attached information sheet HERE that shows your benefit payment options and how to change to Direct Deposit if you so choose.  As the sheet shows, you will need your financial institution routing number and your account number.

In brief, there are two ways to change to Direct Deposit, additional details are in the attachment.

  1. Call – 1-866-500-0017
  2. Online-
    1. Start by clicking here.
    2. Click “For Employees” under “Apply for unemployment benefits” (you won’t actually be applying)
    3. Click “Sign in with MI LOGIN”
    4. Login if you have an account, or create a new account and follow the prompts.
    5. Once logged in, to change to direct deposit, under “Claimant Services”, Click “Modify Payment Method.”

There also have been many questions about WHEN the unemployment payment will be issued. The exact answer is unclear, however what we know is that Dowding will “certify” your unemployment work share for the week of 7/6 on Tuesday 7/14, and the payment could be issued anywhere from 1-10 days. We THINK signing up for direct deposit MAY allow for quicker payment. We wish we had more clarity on this for you, and if you have any questions, please feel free to speak with your Plant Manager or to HR.  We hope this will be a relatively seamless process.   Have a great day and thank you again for all your continued hard work as we navigate through these times.
