Dowding IT Alerts (SMS)

Dowding IT Alerts is a free text message alert program for Dowding Industries employees. When our IT monitoring system detects a problem at our Eaton Rapids, Michigan facilities, such as a power outage or the backup power (UPS) running on battery, a network or plant-to-plant link outage, a hot server room, or a critical server or business system going down, it texts the people on the alert list from (517) 836-1054. Messages are about IT and infrastructure events only, and each problem is followed by an all-clear when it is resolved. We never send marketing or promotional messages.

How to join

Joining is voluntary and is not a condition of employment. Use either method:

  1. Email: send an email to [email protected] with the subject JOIN IT ALERTS. Include your name, your mobile number, and the consent statement below.
  2. Phone: call the Dowding Industries IT department at 517-663-5455 and ask to join Dowding IT Alerts. IT will email you the consent statement to confirm in writing before you are added.

Consent statement to include in your email:

I want to receive Dowding IT Alerts by text message at [your mobile number]. I understand message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, I can reply STOP to opt out at any time, and reply HELP for help.

You will be added only after IT receives your written consent. Your first message will confirm that you have joined.

What to expect

  • Message frequency varies. Messages are sent only when an IT or infrastructure event happens, typically a few per month, more during an extended outage.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will get one confirmation and no further messages.
  • Reply HELP for help, or contact IT at 517-663-5455 or [email protected].
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Sample message: “Dowding IT: UPS sr-eaton ON BATTERY. Runtime 25 min, battery 99%, load 48%. Reply STOP to opt out.”
