Dowding Text Message Programs

Dowding Industries Inc. runs three text message programs for its employees. None of them send marketing or promotional messages to the public. This page explains what each program sends, how to join, and how to stop. This page does not collect any information.

Moving to new numbers: in October 2026 we are moving Team Member Notifications and Golf League texts to the new numbers below. Until the move is finished you may still receive texts from our old number, (517) 210-8500.

Dowding Team Member Notifications (keyword DOWD)

Company news and events, holiday and plant closure notices, HR and benefits reminders (such as open enrollment, 401(k) deadlines and flu shots), meeting reminders, and operational notices such as a phone system outage. Messages are sent by Dowding Industries Inc. from (517) 836-5100 through our messaging provider, Twilio.

  • Who can join: Dowding Industries employees.
  • How to join: on your new-hire paperwork, write your mobile number and check the separate box that says you agree to receive company text messages (the exact wording is below); HR then adds you. You can also join at any time by texting DOWD to (517) 836-5100. You will receive a welcome text confirming that you joined.
  • Message frequency: varies, up to 30 messages per month.
  • Sample message: “Dowding: SPQRCE meetings are today. Check with your supervisor for your time. Reply STOP to end”

Skip Dowding Memorial Charity Golf League (keyword DOWDGOLF)

League schedules, weather cancellations, course and directions updates, and league events for employees who play in the Skip Dowding Memorial Charity Golf League. Messages are sent by Dowding Industries Inc. from (517) 836-0186 through Twilio.

  • Who can join: Dowding Industries employees who sign up for the league.
  • How to join: on the league sign-up form, write your mobile number and check the separate box that says you agree to receive league text messages (wording below), or text DOWDGOLF to (517) 836-0186. You will receive a welcome text confirming that you joined.
  • Message frequency: varies, up to 10 messages per month during the league season only.
  • Sample message: “Dowding Golf: League play is cancelled tonight because of rain. See you next week. Reply STOP to end”

The new-hire paperwork has a separate, optional box with this statement next to the mobile number. It is unchecked until the employee checks it:

The golf league sign-up form has a separate, optional box with this statement:

We keep the signed form as the record of your consent. Nobody is added without checking the box or texting the keyword themselves.

Dowding IT Alerts

Automated alerts from our IT monitoring system about IT and infrastructure problems at our Eaton Rapids, Michigan facilities: power and backup power, network and plant-to-plant links, server room temperature, and critical servers and systems. This program has its own sign-up process. See Dowding IT Alerts.

What applies to every program

  • Joining is voluntary and is not a condition of employment.
  • Message and data rates may apply under your mobile carrier plan. Dowding Industries does not charge for any of these programs.
  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will receive one confirmation and no further messages from that program.
  • Reply HELP to any message for help, or call Dowding Industries at 517-663-5455.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Terms and privacy

These programs are covered by our Terms and Conditions, Sections 19 and 20 (IT Alerts: Section 18) and our Privacy Policy, Section 16 (IT Alerts: Section 15). Your mobile number is used only to send messages for the program you joined. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
